Unadulterated Excellence: Purchasing and Maintaining a Superior Carport

All of us want the best when it comes to our families, our homes, and our cars. Why not our carports, as well? A superior carport begins with the best of materials, assembled in the perfect location, and finishes with perfect maintenance. Each step is essential. Leaving out one will result in a carport that may be functional, may be useful, may even be good enough--but it won't be the best you can get.

Superior carports are generally made with steel frames and aluminum or sometimes vinyl siding. Vinyl siding will end up stressed out by the sun within a few years, and will need to be replaced, but as long as you attend diligently to maintenance, it isn't a problem as per se. Roofing material can be either tin or aluminum, but *not* vinyl. Because it receives the brunt of the sun's force, it would have to be replaced too often to make it worth the cheaper cost to put it on. And let's not forget, a truly superior carport is about quality, not cutting costs!

The superior site for a superior carport is level, close enough to the house to be somewhat protected from wind (although the best carport will be attached well enough that wind won't be as much of a problem) and it will not be in an area which tends to receive a lot of runoff when it rains, or, if it is, it will be well build up with gravel to allow runoff to soak through without damaging the carport. But ideally, the superior carport will not be in such a location at all.

Finally, we come to perfect maintenance. It is hardly necessary to wash down the carport every week; after all, you most likely want a carport in the first place so that you won't have to wash your car every week. Washing a car is preferable to washing a carport. Nevertheless, every carport benefits from a good washing, preferably with a pressure washer, at least once every three to five years. And washing it once a year isn't going to hurt it, either. Pay attention to things like loose screws and worn areas that need attention; fix small problems before they become large problems. And that way, your superior carport will always be superior.
